The Sick List

FOR HEALTHCARE & PATIENT ORGANISATIONS

Practical patient-made resources for people going into hospital, having treatment or recovering — and for the people trying to help them.

The Sick List was made by a small group of long-term patients who have spent years in and out of hospital. It turns the practical things patients often learn too late into guides, checklists, printables and recommendations that are easier to use when somebody is already ill, tired or overwhelmed.

We are not part of the NHS and we do not provide medical advice. Nurses we know have contributed informal practical input in places, but this is patient-made information rather than clinical guidance or NHS endorsement.

SHARE OUR RESOURCES

Healthcare teams, patient-experience teams, charities and support organisations are welcome to link patients and carers to any public Sick List guide or free printable. You do not need our permission to link to them.

Resources that may be particularly useful include our hospital-bag checklists, ward-round notes, adult autism hospital visual story, ADHD hospital guide and staff sheet, reasonable-adjustments guide, and the “Things that might help me in hospital” staff sheet.

The wider Sick List also contains independently chosen product recommendations and some affiliate links. These are clearly disclosed and never determine what we recommend. Sharing or linking to a Sick List resource does not imply NHS endorsement of the wider site.

WORK WITH THE SICK LIST

The founder of The Sick List is available for selected talks, workshops and co-production work with healthcare teams, patient-experience teams and organisations developing information for patients.

This can include conference and staff-team talks about long-term patient experience; practical workshops looking at hospital journeys from the patient side; lived-experience review of patient information, leaflets and webpages; and working with staff to co-produce clear, useful patient guides and resources.

The focus is practical: the ordinary details of hospital care, information and environments that can make a disproportionate difference to how patients experience them.
